FLAG OF THE INTERNATIONAL SAMBO FEDERATION WAS RAISED IN ANTARCTICA

Participants of the international complex expedition “Peaceful East-200”, carrying out an honorable mission in honor of the 85th anniversary of SAMBO, delivered the flag of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS) and the flag of the Sambo Union of Asia and Oceania (SUAO) to Antarctica. The flag raising ceremony took place on January 7.

The ceremony of raising the flags over the Antarctic Bellingshausen station was attended by the head of the station, Kirill Kuchinsky, two station employees who devoted a considerable part of their lives to SAMBO – Alexander Soldatenko and Mikhail Panchenko, as well as the vice-president of the SUAO, president of the New Zealand Sambo Federation Sergey Permitin.

“After the expedition returns from Antarctica, the FIAS and SUAO flags will be delivered to the International SAMBO Center in Luzhniki, where they will take their place of honor in the SAMBO Museum,” Sergey Permitin said.

Let us recall that in 2018, the year of the 80th anniversary of SAMBO, the FIAS flag visited low-Earth orbit, and cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev congratulated all sambists and wished SAMBO to become an Olympic sport. In 2021, FIAS received permanent recognition from the International Olympic Committee
