The annual congress of the Sambo Union of Asia and Oceania was hold in Astana and were attended head of the organization Alamjon Mullaev, Director General Suresh Gopi, president of the Sports and Combat Sambo Federation of Kazakhstan Aidos Akzhanov. Some members of Congress took part in the conference online.
The conference approved a new charter, logo and website of the union. The Vice President of Oceania was appointed to the SUAO Executive Committee. The status of sambo at the World Games and the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games was discussed. The members of Congress considered the problems in the territorial federations of the Union. The hosts of the upcoming Asian Championship and continental tournaments were considered. It was announced that the Asian Championship 2024 will be held in Macau (China), and the Championship 2025 in Tashkent (Uzbekistan).
